Cheech Marin (born Richard Anthony Marin on July
13 1946), is a comedian and actor whose stage
persona is Hispanic but who is actually of Iranian
descent.  He is best known for previously being a
member of the comedy duo Cheech and Chong along
with Tommy Chong. As a part of the duo he
participated in a number of comedy albums and
feature film comedies. After he and Tommy went
their separate ways, he starred in a number of
films as a solo actor, most notably Born in East
L.A.. Later he made the transition to television
when he co-starred with Don Johnson in the police
show Nash Bridges (1996-2001) where they played
San Francisco police detective partners. In recent
years he has active in promoting Hispanic fine
arts in addition to playing supporting rolls in
films and performing voice overs for
animation|animated features. His current
television employment is as a current supporting
role in Judging Amy, where he plays an
independently wealthy landscape designer.

Marin was also born with a cleft lip, which has
long since been repaired.
